Dawn is a Junior Doctor working in London. She graduated with a 1st class Honors degree in Biochemistry from the University of Surrey in 2007. In 2010 Dawn went on to study Medicine at Imperial College London where she received distinction in clinical practice.
Throughout her studies Dawn participated in a range of sports including – triathlon, aquathlon, rowing and dressage. In her spare time, she takes part in running events and cycle sportives and is hoping to finish her first half ironman this year. It was her enjoyment for sport and understanding of the frustrations of injury which first drew Dawn to Sports and Exercise Medicine. She is passionate about the promotion and benefits of physical activity and aspires to one day find a successful approach for tackling physical inactivity.
For her elective Dawn spent time in the sports injuries clinic of Track and Field Association in Thessaloniki, Greece and at the Sports and Exercise Medicine Department of Leicester General Hospital. Additionally Dawn undertook a three week student selected module at Bart’s and The London where she gained further experience of Sports and Exercise Medicine. She is a British Rowing Adaptive Rowing Classifier and provided medical cover at the 2016 Brighton Marathon.
Dawn has presented research at both national and international conferences on topics including physical activity, calcific shoulder tendinopathy and sesamoid osteonecrosis. Additionally, she is a Junior Associate Editor for the Clinical Journal of Sports and Exercise Medicine and Co-President of the ECOSEP Junior Doctors Committee.
